Step 1: Purchase Your Driver's Training Permit at the DMV
To start your journey with Pioneer Driving School, you must first purchase a driver’s training permit from the DMV. DMV will mail physical permit card to our school, Pioneer Driving School.

- Letter of Compliance(obtain from school student attends, not needed if homeschooled).
- Original Birth Certificate,
- Social Security Card,
- Picture ID(parent and student),
- Proof of Residency
- Liability Signer

Step 2: Complete Your Driver's Education Course
Register for our online driver’s education course. Once online course is 100% completed and certificate received, call us at (208)671-3369 or email us at contact@pioneerdrivingchools.com to schedule 6 hour behind the wheel lessons. Lessons are split in three two hour segments.
Driving School will give a certificate of completion and the student’s supervised instruction permit once the student has completed the driver’s ed course(online class, 6 hour observation, 6 hour behind-the-wheel instruction).

Complete the driver’s ed course and receive certificate of completion and supervised instruction permit.
Step 3: Practice, Practice, Practice
Hold the permit for a 6 month period and drive a total of 40 daytime hours and 10 nighttime hours with a licensed adult.

Step 4: Schedule Knowledge and Skills Test
Prepare to take the written knowledge test and the road skills test at the DMV. Passing these tests is essential to obtaining your Idaho driver’s license. Make sure to schedule your appointments in advance.
